Abstract

Charge states of argon produced by bombardment with 100-keV to 1-MeV

H^{+}

and

{He}^{+}

projectiles were studied by examining high-resolution

L

x-ray satellite spectra. Large differences appear in charge-state populations determined from x-ray data and Auger-electron data.
