Abstract
Extracts of normal [male] urine containing the gastric inhibitory factor, urogastrone, were found to contain an impurity which produced fever in dogs and rabbits. Although fresh untreated urine contained small and variable quantities of this pyrogen, the greater proportion was formed during the prep. of extracts of the urine. By minimizing bacterial contamination and growth, and by suitable purification procedures, potent urogastrone was prepared entirely free of the pyrogenic impurity. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
