Abstract
The MacAndrew MMPI Alcoholism Scale seems to reflect acting-out tendency in general rather than alcoholism in particular. The present study, in which 27 male alcoholic and 33 criminally charged psychiatric patients were not differentiated by the MacAndrew Scale from 37 psychiatric patients, supports this contention and suggests that this scale may not be a useful differentiating measure for alcoholics. Keywords
