Abstract
We have obtained the resonance Raman spectrum of and using krypton- and argon-ion laser lines. The resonating electronic transition is the to transition, which we determine to occur at 2.47±0.05 eV in . We have observed the (LO) mode in at 350±5 and also its second-order spectrum. In the case of , we have observed the (LO) mode at 325±2 and a second-order spectrum in the region of 570–660 . The phonon structure of both materials is presented.
