Abstract
A family in which 8 members were affected by ulcerative colitis is presented. A genetic factor is considered to play a major etiologlc part. Distribution in this family suggests an autosomal dominant pattern, and the literature shows that a genetic influence may be more important than previously supposed. Keywords
