The Effect of Particle Size on the Thermoluminescence of Lithium Fluoride

Abstract
The variation with particle size of the luminescence efficiency of LiF exposed to monochromatic X-rays and [gamma]-rays was studied. The efficiency decreases considerably with particle size, and the magnitude of the effect depends on the photon energy. The effect could, among other factors, be due to an ''inactive'' surface layer.
