Abstract
Using Guizotia abyssinica creatinine agar, C. neoformans was found in the excreta of 4 of the 142 bird species kept by the Berlin Zoological Gardens (West Germany): tawny frogmouth (Podargus strigoides, G. Eulenschwalm), palm cockatoo (Probosciger aterrimus, G. Arakakadu), military macaw (Ara militaris, G. Soldatenara) and gray parrot (Psittacus erithacus, G. Graupapagei). The importance of the fecal matter from caged birds in the epidemiology of [human] cryptococcosis is pointed out. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
