Abstract
It is shown that an arbitrary dead-time-affected photoelectric-counting distribution may be expressed in terms of the counting distribution obtained by an ideal detector. An order-by-order method of inverting this relation is presented so that, for weak or moderate dead-time effects, the ideal counting distribution may be derived from experimental measurements made with a detector having dead time. Keywords
