Abstract
We investigate the possibility of binding locally two quarks in the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. For a range of model parameters consistent with vacuum parameters the scalar, isoscalar, and color-antitriplet diquark is found to bind with a mass of about the constituent-quark mass. The relevance of this light diquark for baryons in the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model is discussed. Keywords
