Abstract
Cortisone diminished and 17-ethyl-19-nortestosterone (Nilevar, Searle) increased the binding capacity of labeled sulfate by the growing bones of cockerels, treated during a 3-week period, with ten 5 mg doses of these hormones. This was interpreted as the catabolic and anabolic effect of these steroids respectively. The anabolic steroid 17-ethyl-19-nortestosterone significantly counteracted the catabolic effect of cortisone on growing bones, when both hormones were given simultaneously. Keywords
