Abstract
It is generally thought that in the high-velocity limit the dominant contribution to the cross section for charge transfer (in the forward direction) comes from a particular second Born term. It is shown that for charge transfer into states of hydrogenlike atoms the particular second Born contribution which dominates in the high-velocity limit decreases as in the limit of high principal quantum number .
