Abstract
In the high velocity limit there ought to exist a connection between the correct classical and quantum mechanical treatments of the forward capture of a light particle. By means of a semi-classical treatment it is shown that there is a proper connection between the classical treatment of Thomas (1927) and the second Born approximation. Keywords
