Abstract
High-resolution electrical resistivity data ( rho ,d rho /dT) revealed a fascinating succession of fluctuating modes and magnetic phases in Gd1-xYx crystals at the onset of helimagnetism (xc approximately 0.3). An improved magnetic phase diagram is proposed which contains two multicritical points near xc. The data refute the suggested existence of a Lifshitz point in Gd1-xYx at x approximately 0.3, i.e. the existence of ferromagnetic, paramagnetic and helimagnetic (q to 0) phases. Keywords
