Abstract
These results indicate that, at least in vitro, TGFβ1 can inhibit the pro‐apoptotic activity of NGF for SMCs therefore suggesting that TGFβ1 has the capacity to diminish the deleterious consequences of an excitotoxic or ischemic injury that might occur during atherogenesis or following angioplasty. Keywords
