Abstract
Large-scale protein prepns. from the leaves of 4 pasture plants, Phalaris tuberosa, Hordeum murinum, Medicago sativa and Medicago denticulata, were made. The procedure secures the liberation of protein from chlorpplasts and other protoplasmic bodies. Analyses indicate that the proteins are reasonably pure and representative of the whole protein of the leaf. The prepns. may therefore be used to assess the nutritional value of individual pasture plants.
