Abstract
We develop a method for using the nonperturbative Schwinger-Dyson equation to study chiral symmetry breaking in an external field. We apply it to massless QED in a constant magnetic field and obtain a nontrivial solution for the fermion self-energy at weak coupling, suggesting that chiral symmetry is dynamically broken. Keywords
