Abstract
An 18-year-old man suffered from acute Sydenham chorea appearing coincidently with β-haemolytic streptococcal throat infection. Imaging techniques documented lesions of basal ganglia and substantia nigra. In the early course of the disease vascular lesions may be important pathogenetic mechanisms of this acquired movement disorder. Keywords
