Abstract
Groups leaving invariant a quadratic or Hermitian form are divided into four classes, and particles are associated with their finite irreducible representations. It is proved that the Wigner-Eckart theorem in its local form is a class theorem. Thus, the same relations between the expectation values of certain operators can be found for different groups. Keywords
