Abstract
Expts. performed with highly purified esterase preps. showed the "cholinesterase" present in blood serum and certain tissues to be a non-specific enzyme. A specific cholinesterase, acting exclusively on choline esters was found in the brain tissue and red blood cells of some mammals. The non-specific "cholinesterase" exhibited its maximum activity at high concs. of acetylcholine. The reverse was true for the specific cholinesterase. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
