The Antigenic Characteristics of Hematopoietic Stem Cells

Abstract
THE surface antigenic structure of hematopoietic cells changes during the course of differentiation from proliferating precursors to nondividing, functionally mature cells. In a given cell lineage, some antigens are expressed and others are lost during the maturation process. Knowledge of the antigenic structure of hematopoietic progenitor cells and their mature progeny can help us to understand the process of cell differentiation and the function of specific surface antigens.
