Abstract
The hydrodynamic triplet in the spectrum of light scattered from liquid H2O has been investigated over the range -25·5 to 49·0°C. These measurements allow the first precise determination of the Landau-Placzek ratio (LPR) in the supercooled region. The data can be explained only by taking into account both an explicit temperature dependence of the refractive index as well as the effect of a relaxation process. The analysis furnishes the temperature dependence of the density and temperature derivatives of the dielectric constant. An evolution of the relaxing contribution to the thermal expansion coefficient is also obtained. Keywords
