Abstract
To the Editor: In their report in the July 13 issue of the Journal 1 Gamble and Ruggles discuss the syndrome of mixed cryoglobulinemia in a patient with chronic pulmonary coccidioidomycosis. They suggest that the pulmonary infection is responsible for the cryoglobulinemia because they were able to find anticoccidioidin activity within the cryoprecipitate. Other investigators2 have attributed cases of this syndrome to hepatitis B virus infection because they found hepatitis B surface antigen or its antibody activity, or both, within the cryoprecipitates. There are arguments against such conclusions.Mixed cryoglobulins are very unusual immune complexes. They appear to consist of an . . .This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
