Abstract
Nitration of benz[a]anthracene, dibenz[a,c]anthracene, and dibenz[a,h]anthracene, using nitric acid in acetic anhydride, gave mainly isomeric mixtures of corresponding mononitro derivatives. The derivatives were purified by HPLC on silica to a purity of better than 99.5% and identified on the basis of their 1H NMR, MS and UV data. The main isomers were 7- and 12-nitrobenz[a]anthracene, 9-nitrodibenz[a,c]anthracene, and 5- and 7-nitrodibenz[a,h]anthracene.This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
