Abstract
(+)-erythro-Isobutyltartaric acid, a component of the glucoside loroglossine, was shown to have the 2R, 3S configuration. Syntheses of the 2S, 3R and 2R, 3R isomers of isobutylerythritol and dimethyl (2S, 3S)-isobutyltartrate from 2,3-O-isopropylidene-D-glyceraldehyde are described. The circular dichroism curves of the molybdate complexes of the 2R, 3S and the 2S, 3S isomers of isobutyltartaric acid are discussed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
