Abstract
The ACTH and cortisol responses to several doses of exogenous ACTH were evaluated; these values were compared to the physiologic responses obtained in normal subjects undergoing insulin-induced hypoglycemia. A cosyntrophin dose of 0.2 .mu.g/kg body wt produced both ACTH and cortisol levels indistinguishable from the physiologic stress-induced vlaues. Since this dose is .apprx. 4% of the standard 250 .mu.g dose employed in tests of adrenal function, a need for caution in the interpretation of such tests was suggested. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
