Abstract
The authors examine the sensitivity of the cross section and polarisation observables in radiative neutron-proton capture to the uncertainty in the two-nucleon potential at short and intermediate range. These uncertainties are modelled by unitary phase-equivalent transformations of the Hamiltonian. They find that the photon linear polarisation is very sensitive to the resulting changes in the wavefunctions. The neutron analysing power is rather insensitive to these changes and could play a role in identifying effects not included in a potential model description. Keywords
