Hyperfine Interactions and Paramagnetic Relaxation of Dysprosium Ions in DyCrO3

Abstract
Mössbauer experiments on Dy161 in DyCrO3 are reported. At 4.2°K the paramagnetic hyperfine pattern was found to be consistent with the following interactions for the ground state of Dy161: g0βNHeff=806±20 Mc/sec and 14e2qQ=420±20 Mc/sec. The dysprosium spin relaxation times are τ(20°K)7×109 sec and τ(78°K)5×1011 sec. The crystal-field constant V20 was estimated to be 159 cm1.
