Treatment of Amenorrhea and of Anovulation with Human Menopausal and Chorionic Gonadotropins

Abstract
Thirty-five patients with various types of ovarian dysfunction have been treated with Pergonal, a follicle-stimulating hormone extracted from menopausal urine and human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). Treatment in each instance was started with Pergonal (4.75–18.0 mg equivalents of FSHNIH-Sl daily). When sufficient follicular maturation was obtained, oviolation was induced with HCG (4000–5000 IU daily). Five patients had primary ovarian failure and none of these responded to treatment. Ovulation was induced one or more times in all other patients. Twenty patients complained of infertility, and of these 14 conceived.
