Osseous Lesions in Urticaria Pigmentosa

Abstract
URTICARIA pigmentosa, a chronic benign cutaneous disorder occurring at all ages, is characterized clinically by pigmented macules, papules or, rarely, nodules, and microscopically by an increased number of cutaneous mast cells, the pigmentation being merely an exaggeration of the usual melanin pigment. Rubbing of the lesion may be accompanied by swelling and itching (Darier's sign).Although occasional reports, mostly in the European literature, refer to urticaria pigmentosa as a systemic disease, — for example, pseudoleukemia,1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 ¶ — it was not until Ellis10 presented the autopsy findings of a child with widespread visceral involvement by mast cells that interest in the possible . . .
