Abstract
By means of glucose oxidase paper, measurements were made of normal skin, fingertips, urine, and stripped skin of normal and diabetic subjects. A close correlation between hyperglycemia, glycosuria, and the presence of glucose on the surface of the stripped skin was found. These results suggest that glucose is normally absent from the epidermis and appears only after normal blood levels are exceeded. Keywords
