Abstract
Mammary gland tissue homogenates phosphorylated glucose, fructose, mannose, and maltose. Glucokinase activity was stimulated by added Mg ion. Glucose and mannose were phosphorylated at a max. rate at lower substrate concns. than fructose and maltose. Phosphorylation of lactose and galactose did not occur at a significant rate. The evidence indicated that a direct phosphorylation of maltose occurred. This publication has 19 references indexed in Scilit:
