Abstract
Serotonin stimulates the oxidation of glucose-1 and 6-C14 to C14O2 in thyroid slices. Tryptamine and 5-methoxy tryptamine also stimulate the oxidation of glucose- 1-C14 to C14O2. Analogues in which the amino group is acetylated are inactive. In a cell free system fortified with TPNH, serotonin stimulates and acts by augmenting the oxidation ofTPNHtoTPN.Keywords
