Abstract
Presentation of CaseA sixty-nine-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of dyspnea.He had been well until the development of anorexia ten weeks previously, followed two weeks later by the onset of night sweats and chilly sensations. Three weeks before admission a physician found pyuria and administered sulfisoxazole (Gantrisin), which caused improvement of the signs in the urinary sediment. Intermittent glycosuria was observed, and the fasting serum glucose was 140 mg. per 100 ml. The anorexia, sweating and chilliness persisted, and profound weakness developed.
