Abstract
Cell-free preparations from sugar beet leaf tissue are shown to contain active systems for the synthesis of sucrose and sucrose-phosphate through the interaction of uridine diphosphoglucose and fructose, and uridine diphosphoglucose and fructose-6-phosphate respectively. Methods for preparing and assaying the enzyme mixture, for demonstrating maximum activity in the presence of invertase, and the differentiating sucrose and sucrose-phosphate are described. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
