Abstract
Young plants of Digitalis lanata were fed by the vick technique with ammonium mevalonate‐[3‐14C]. The isolation from the leaves of pure digitoxigenin and gitoxigenin (without dilution) was described formerly [5]. We describe here the isolation from the same plants of the four pure spirostanols: tigogenin (5), digalogenin (6), gitogenin (7) and digitogenin (8), again without dilution. These spirostanols contained about 3–5 times more radioactivity per Mol than the cardenolides. Keywords
