The question,1 though heavy with scientific ennui, is not lightly dismissed.Analysis of the contents of the gallbladder to investigate stone formation is not new. Poulletier de la Salle analyzed gallstones 200 years ago.2 Until recently, however, such efforts have been rather desultory.
