Abstract
The tracheal tube is made by curing thermoplastic (Plastisol, series 64. Chamberlain Engineering Corporation, P. O. Box 350, Akron 9, Ohio) on a preheated metal dipping mold. Use of this tube in tracheostomized cattle makes 2 separate connections to the trachea available. Eructated rumen gas can be collected from the anterior end. Expired gases partially contaminated with absorbed rumen gas may be collected from the posterior end. A combined collection from both openings allows carbon-nitrogen balance experiments on tracheostomized animals. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
