Abstract
From 0.1-1 mg. of formic acid can be detd. by the manometric estimation of the CO2 produced by oxidation with HgCl2. The CO2 is transferred to a Van Slyke apparatus, absorbed in NaOH, deaerated and measured after release with lactic acid. Error was less than 1% with 1 mg. quantities, but rises to 5-10% with 0.1 mg. The rates of production of formic acid from agar and Brucella abortus antigen are compared. Keywords
