Abstract
The amino acid composition of the protein hydrolyzate of the whole giant kelp M. pyrifera was determined. As a percentage of the dry weight of the seaweed, corrected for 12.8% moisture, the amino acids found were: alanine 2.13%, ornithine 2.11%, glutamic acid 1.98%, aspartic acid 1.45%, valine 1.06%, leucine 0.89%, glycine 0.76%, phenylalanine 0.63%, threonine 0.63%, lysine 0.60%, isoleucine 0.55%, serine 0.51%, arginine 0.36%, histidine 0.21% and methionine 0.19%. Proline and cystine were found in trace amounts. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
