Abstract
An unusual case of hypertensive encephalopathy in a 12-year-old boy is reported. The patient had transient episodes of coma and hemiparalysis, consecutively on both sides. With the removal of a parathyroid adenoma, the hypertension subsided and the patient recovered without neurologic deficit. The literature on hyperparathyroidism in children is breifly reviewed and the mechanism in this particular case is discussed. Keywords
