Immunization Against Tetanus with Alum-Precipitated Tetanus Toxoid

Abstract
The amts. of antitoxin found in the blood of a group of persons 30 to 50 yrs. of age treated with alum-precipitated tetanus toxoid were smaller than in a similarly treated group of younger persons, 18 to 20 yrs. of age. Following a 2d injection, the formation of antitoxin was increased in both series with the average again higher in the younger age group. Older persons may need more than 2 injections to develop a basic immunity against tetanus.
