Abstract
This paper applies chromosomal DNA fiber autoradiography to higher plants. The authors outline both technological and analytical considerations and present results of experiments with chromosomal DNA of Crepis capillaris seedlings. At 23 ± 1° C, the average replicon size was approximately 24 µm and the average fork rate was 9.1 µm per hour. The average replicon completes DNA replication within 1.3 hours, and there are roughly 30,000 replicons per C. capillaris genome. Keywords
