Abstract
We analyze the JP=1+ three-pion production amplitudes obtained from the most recent diffractive, charge-exchange, and backward-production experiments. We have found effects in the amplitudes that we interpret in terms of qq¯, q2q¯2, and q3q¯3 interactions. tions. The qq¯ piece gives rise to the A1 resonance whose parameters are MA1=1230±30 MeV and ΓA1=330±60 MeV, whereas the backward-production reaction shows a strong qq¯ and q2q¯2 interference effect. The επ scattering couples only to the q2q¯2 and q3q¯3, and thus argues in favor of Jaffe's four-quark model of the ε.
