Abstract
The presence of isomeric complexes formed in aqueous solutions of platinum(II)–methionine systems has been demonstrated. Proton and 13C NMR spectroscopy was found useful for the characterization of such structures and for obtaining the quantitative contributions of the different isomers. Formation of a trimethionine complex was detected and importance of this molecule in the isomerization from trans to cis geometry was postulated. A method of obtaining dimethionineplatinum(II) complexes enriched in cis isomers was developed and the products of this reaction were characterized. Keywords
