Abstract
Summary.: The geographical aspects of the three districts of the Kaonde‐Lunda Province of Northern Rhodesia are described and the climates of the three districts compared. The main biota are classified. Of particular interest are the ever‐green forests of Mwinilunga and the distinctive vegetation west of the Zambesi River. The Cryptmepalurn woodland is avifaunally disappointing. Attention is drawn to some of the more striking instances of fauniatic elements derived from Angola and the and south‐west. A systematic account of the species occurring will follow in due course.
