Abstract
In albino rats whose beta cells of the islets of Langerhans were degranulated by means of insulin or starvation, a high carbohydrate diet brought about regranulation of the beta cells more quickly than a normal diet. Starved rats regranulated more quickly than insulin-treated rats. Since the beta granules are thought to represent stored insulin, the disappearance and reappearance of insulin in the islets of Langerhans has been described under specific conditions.
