Abstract
The spin-fluctuation contribution to the -state pairing interaction in Pd is calculated. The resulting transition temperature, due to spin fluctuations alone, is only of order K indicating that the occurrence of an observable -state transition depends strongly on the phonon interaction. Recent calculations of the -wave phonon interaction are briefly discussed but do not yet allow a reliable prediction of .
