Abstract
Several recently proposed models for the interatomic potential in silicon are used to generate the interatomic force constants. These are then used to calculate the elastic constants and selected normal-mode frequencies. A comparison of the calculated and experimental values provides a test of the models. None of the models tested is completely satisfactory. Keywords
