Abstract
An analysis of the physics of cementation processes (metal displacement) is presented. Hydrogen,H+, and hydride, H-, ions are shown to be the key intermediate species in cementation processes. The possibility of either diffusional transport of noble species or migrational transport of hydrogen species is suggested, and a kinetic model of the cementation migration regime is developed and partially verified by experimental data. Keywords
