Abstract
Endometriotropic responses were studied during 99 of 117 cycles of therapy with estrogens and/or progesterone given 23 women. Some degree of progestational alteration was encountered at the end of 22 cycles, but only one normal progestational endometrium occurred, the remainder being classified as mixed. Urinary titers of Na pregnandiol glucuronide were investigated during 40 cycles of 7 women, who received similar therapy during 23 of these cycles. No evidence was encountered in these studies that crystalline progesterone, when given intramusc. in oily soln. is metabolized into Na pregnandiol glucuronide. Apparently, when given alone, progesterone depresses the spontaneous metabolism of endogenous pro-gestin. Endometriotropic studies suggest the possibility that the concurrent adm. of estrogens with progesterone may enhance the utilization of the latter. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
